Pot Tuber – Dahlia Andrea Clark

Medium Decorative. Yellow. 1.5m. Suitable for exhibition and garden use.

Out of stock

A first class yellow medium with superb form which is regularly seen on the show benches. This is a tall growing variety getting up to 1.6m, sometimes more, so, like all Dahlias, needs to be well supported. When young plants are growing strongly the growing tip should be removed to encourage the development of flowering stems. If you are growing for showing then to achieve the best size for this section we would suggest restricting the flowering stems to 5 or 6 and, once the flowering bud is visible, removing the first 3-4 pairs of buds below this. If you are just looking for garden display then more blooms can be allowed to develop and less side buds. Regular removal of dead flowers will help provide a longer display.  Gold certificate 2000 and Norman Lewis Trophy at the National 2010

Dahlia Pot Tubers

The tubers we offer are dahlias which have been grown for a full season in the confines of a 4” or 5” pot, so that a small compact tuber is produced. They are ideal material for the exhibitor with a heated greenhouse or propagator to enable their own propagation. Tubers are available from DECEMBER to FEBRUARY and are packed in polythene sleeves with vermiculite. We strongly advise unpacking on arrival and if necessary store tubers in a cool frost free environment until required for setting away. A minimum of 50F (10oC) is required for propagation, water sparingly until growth is evident. Should any tuber fail to have shown any signs of growth by the end of March then please contact us so we can aim to organise replacements as rooted cuttings. Please note Pot Tuber numbers are limited so order early to avoid disappointment.
